Peonies & Pearls has been asked to contribute to an article in Wedding Magazine, how exciting! Here are some of the top tips I provided them….
♥ Enjoy your day; don’t worry about all the little details that aren’t quite right. Your day is about celebrating your love as a couple and shouldn’t be spent worrying that the flowers are the wrong shade of pink. Years to come you won’t remember what colour the chair sashes were, you’ll remember what a fantastic day you had.
♥ Try take a private moment with your husband to take a step back and take everything in. I know it’s a cliché but really the day does whizz by.
♥ Splurge on your wedding dress and save on items like your veil and shoes. I tried on Louboutin shoes and veils that cost nearly £200 but in the end I bought a £10 veil from ebay and vintage looking shoes from Faith that cost £40. The dress was such a show stealer, I didn’t need expensive accessories. Buy cheap veils here.
♥ If you can afford to have a wedding day co-ordinator I’d definitely recommend having one. I organise staff events for the company I work for and know how difficult it can be to enjoy yourself and make sure everyone is happy and things are running smoothly. Everything run with precision on our day and any small issues that did arise we passed on straight away. It meant that we got to enjoy our special day stress free.
♥ I’d also recommend organising some form of interactive entertainment, whether it be a music act, break dance crew, circus act, the options are limit less and could complement your wedding theme. We had a Lithuanian folk dance group (we got married in Vilnius) who got all our guests out of their chairs dancing and splitting their sides with laughter. I love looking back at those pictures and seeing peoples expressions. Pure joy!
♥ If you’re looking to save costs then a wedding cake can be a hefty expense. How about a dessert table instead, with pretty cupcakes that you could make yourself? Or if you’re not much of a baker try Hummingbird Bakery they make amazing cakes and cupcakes and you can even order online. Or if you do have your heart set on a tiered cake M&S sell reasonably priced wedding cakes that you could decorate with fresh flowers. Or how about dusting it with a lustre finish powder; simple and cheap to do!
